WigWam Toy Shop to re-open

You may have seen that Fiveways' popular toy shop, Wigwam is re-opening.  Here, the new owners, Clair & Jesse, introduce themselves and give us a sneak preview of what's in store...

We were terribly sad to learn of Jo's illness and of her death, and to hear that the beloved local toy shop she had owned and run for 12 years would have to close. After much discussion we decided to make an offer for the business, and to keep it going.

Parents ourselves, we moved to Fiveways in 2006 with our son. Since then we have had two more children.  We really love this area, and have always felt it is ideally suited to the needs of young families.

If you have ever been to the Open Houses in the Fiveways area, you may already know us from "The Cake House". We turn our house and garden in to a "pop-up shop" and café during May (as part of the Brighton Festival) and in December too.

One of the things we've always loved about Fiveways was that we could shop locally, not just for lovely bread, fruit and veg, but for gifts too. We used to shop at Wigwam for presents, for party-bags, birthday cards, wrapping paper or simply to pass the time on a rainy day.  And WigWam was always our children's favorite shop for all those little pocket money treats or to spend their Christmas and birthday money.

So we're absolutely delighted that we are now going to own and run this lovely shop ourselves - and to keep it open for all the mums, dads and kids around Fiveways.

We have been working hard behind the scenes, contacting suppliers, placing orders and sourcing some really exciting things for you and your children.  We will continue to stock the old favorites like Lego, Playmobil, Wow and Micro Scooters to name but a few, but we have also found some rather unusual and intriguing things you may not have seen before.

We have grand plans for our first year.  We are intending to open with lots of fun and beautiful things, and slowly build the appearance of the shop, using our fine art skills to make it a truly magical and fairytale place to be - and with enchanting toys and gifts to suit everybody's pocket.

You may see us in and around the shop over the next few weeks as we make things ready - so please feel free to come and say hello if you're passing by.

Watch out for our leaflets coming through your door with news of our opening and a special treat!

We look forward to meeting you
