Party magic at the Fiveways Playcentre eco-building

A fantastic new eco-venue is available to hire and is the ideal spot for parties!

Tucked away in its own beautiful green space at the bottom of Florence Road, the new Fiveways Playcentre is revealing itself to be a great place to host a party. The new building incorporates the main play room, a sensory room and break out activity room. There are accessible toilets, and the well-equipped kitchen is in the centre of the space,, so you can be sorting out the food and still chat to your party guests.

Jenny Chambers, organiser of this year's fiveways's Disney Disco commented on this great new space: " With craft activities, dancing, food and face painting there is a lot to cram into a party!  The new building at Fiveways Playcentre is just perfect for this sort of thing as the children were able to dance around - disco style in one room while the bigger room was divided into food, face painting and craft areas. There were over 90 children and yet it didn't feel crowded as there was just so much space in which to move around."

One of the best features is the huge, newly landscaped outside play space  - quite a rarity in Brighton - with a track for trikes and bikes made from recycled rubber, a secret garden/nature area, and a timber fort. In fact, loads of space to get lost in (safely) and run about to let off steam. This is really coming into its own now the sun is out, and is ideal for those summer treasure hunts.

While the kids are having fun, grown-ups can also relax in the knowledge they're doing their bit for the environment, as the building has great eco-credentials. It incorporates passive design principles to maximize energy efficiencies. These include south facing windows, exploiting solar gain and thermal mass and full insulation with natural cross ventilation to keep warm in winter and cool in summer. It also recycles rainwater, uses low energy lighting and includes a visually sympathetic and supportive sedum ‘green' roof.

It isn't just for kids parties though, several clubs are already using the space on a regular basis at the weekends and evenings. There is a smaller room, which will take up to 30 people which is ideal for meetings or other activities such as yoga.

Private parties are £60 for four hours (and £15 per extra hour), and community organisations can hire it for £10 per hour. Please contact or call 01273 500257 for details and bookings.
